Subject: Re: [Bug-grub] address@hidden: Bug#104508: grub: cannot get past stage1 on my SCSI disk]
Date: Sun, 15 Jul 2001 17:07:11 +1000
User-agent: Mutt/1.3.18i

more information:

the user was booting from the first ide drive and has since changed the
bios to boot from the scsi drive. which is the fourth drive in the
system.

apocalypse:/boot/grub# cat device.map
(fd0) /dev/floppy/0
(hd0) /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc
(hd1) /dev/ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/disc
(hd2) /dev/ide/host2/bus0/target0/lun0/disc
(hd3) /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target1/lun0/disc

he has tried installing using the grub shell running the following:

root (hd3,0)
setup (hd3)

also he is using devfs, can he still put /dev/sda1 as the root device
for the kernel options or should it be in the devfs format.

Thanks.
