Grub boot fails

Subject: Grub boot fails

Hello folks. I've successfully made my grub boot disk but booting my
system fails at the following point:

request_module [block-major-8]: Root fs not mounted
VFS: Cannot open root device "sda5" or 08:05
Please append a correct "root=" boot option

I'm running a Red Hat 7.1 system with 2 SCSI HDDs.

My lilo. conf is as follows:

boot=/dev/sda5
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
prompt
timeout=50
message=/boot/message
default=linux
lba32

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.2-2
 label=linux
 initrd=/boot/initrd-2.4.2-2.img
 read-only
 root=/dev/sda5

other=/dev/sda9
 label=dos
