splashimage plans

Even though the "splashimage" patch is pure fluff, marketing
and management will love seeing the comany logo on the startup
screen.  And I must admint, it does give our product a bit of
polish.  Two questions:

 1) Are there plans to incorporate the splashimage feature into
    the mainstream sources?

 2) Has anybody fixed the bug it causes when used with a serial
    console?  [Specifying a splashimage causes all output to be
    drawn on the VESA console even when the serial console is
    selected.  Input is still acctepted from the serial
    console, but the menu shows up on the VESA screen.]

I'd be happy to take a whack at fixing #2...
