Okuji,

I was able to download the, from Savannah, the latest code for grub. I
took the default config and compiled with the tools that RedHat 7.2
supplied. The results were the same. I was not able to have any keyboard
control with that version of grub.

You asked me to boot grub, call lilo, and see if I had any keyboard
control. I booted from floppy with the latest grub that I built from
savannah. I called lilo off the hard drive. I had no keyboard control in
grub or lilo. When I boot straight off of the hard drive with lilo, I did
have keyboard control. The results did make sense to me. I hope the
answers will help you figure out the issue with Grub. Please let me know.

Thanks!

Dan

Please check what happens with the genuine GRUB, first of all. Since
Red Hat patches GRUB, I cannot ensure anything with Red Hat's
version. So, get the latest GNU version from the CVS. The method is
described in the project page at savannah.gnu.org
(http://savannah.gnu.org/projects/grub).

If it doesn't work either, try to chainload another boot loader which
should work well with your USB keyboard (such as LILO) from GRUB, and
see if the chainloaded boot loader can still handle key inputs.

Thanks,
Okuji
