Hi,

I am booting linux from a cd likje this:
install grub on floppy, copy kernel to floppy, make a bootable cdimage thatt 
loads the floppy.

I have got a menu, where I can select the cdrom device, that is passed to the 
kernel. But I thinl that this could be made easier with devfs.
