Your BIOS is going to present the first disk it finds as hd0. So in
your menu.lst file under GRUB, make sure that you are always referring
to hd0 and NOT hd1 ( I am assuming you have all the files on your
one disk, since you mentioned you disconnected the original disk, after copying the files to the second one).

Why is that? That was the first thing that I tried and I got the same error.
I changed the entries in menu.lst as well to reflect the change in fs
structure.
