This is about documentation.
that's all very well and good, but "doing the right thing" isn't
very helpful if it isn't documented.
Perhaps I didn't make myself very clear when I submitted the bug.
My main concern is that it is not possible, using the documentation,
to figure out where grub components will be installed (or where they
*need* to be installed).
The fact that the installation is apparently arbitrarily tacking
"grub/i386-pc" onto the path is a side issue.
