GRUB has dessign flaws and won't be ported to non-i386. This is why Okuji
started PUPA, a research project for the next generation of GNU GRUB:


If you want a multiboot loader for the ppc, you should port PUPA instead.

Btw, PUPA doesn't support multiboot yet, but Marco Gerards is working on that.

Uhm.. weren't you going to host at Savannah?

Anyway, when I write a GNU/Hurd section for http://hurd.gnu.org/ I'll make sure
it has some reference to this.
