I've just found out, that all these problems doesn't occur (at least)
with reiserFS (reiser3)...
With that filesystem the stick even uses the menu.lst on it.
Same commands as with my successful try on reiserFS, but with ext2 or
ext3 as filesystem lead to the previously described errors and problems.
