Follow-up Comment #1, bug #24250 (project grub): This has been already reported on Debian BTS http://bugs.debian.org/487445 Ubuntu has an old buggy grub2 you should always try current upstream SVN or Debian sid/experimental version, on Debian we try hard to be up2date with important bugfixes.
