Hello friends,
since many years I'm using first Red Hat and now, since 2004, SUSE. I
just upgraded to version 11.2 .
On the same machine, I'm keeping
Windows 2000. for special applications.
During all the years I use
to have problems with the bootloader, first Lilo and now GRUB.
Since the upgrade, I cannot access Windows, though I can access the
files via Suse, with the kown limitations.
"Repair"
the system, using the SUSE application stops at GRUB, asks if it should
be repaired and my response would be "OK" - the prompt will be
"Bootloader successfully repaired" - the fact, however, is:
SUSE only appeares on the boot screen. (attached snap shoot)
I accessed the bootloader via YAST - but I cannot figure out the
syntax.
According to the BIOS - there are 2 HD, one for
Windows with two partitions (C & D)
1) Primary Master WDC
WD2500AAJB-00J3A (this is the HD containing LINUX only)
2)
Secondary Ma WDC WD1200BB-00HTA0 (this is Windows only - C&D)
Linux Sys Screen shows (Snapshoot attached):
NTFS 3g 53
GB
home Ext 4 (dev/fd0)
NTFS 3g 56 GB
/ EXT 4
The windows version starts from HD "D"
What
I think I need is a Syntax for Yast with the basic code according to the
information above and
the sample screen shot (The windows entry is
just fake to get to this screen). If I had that, I could probably adjust
if required - and - I would save to re-install windows 2000 and than
connect Linux again.
Please address chainloader, bloc etc as
required
I have many smart LINUX books- but I never can find
anything that is as simple as this GRUB entry under YAST.
Your help will be appreciated and improve my excitment for LINUX.
