MAGIC might be a bad name

I've run into trouble getting correct results out of file on an old version
of libtool.

Checking the development source, I see the problem still exists:

all BSD versions of files do heed MAGIC, as an environment variable that
says where /usr/bin/file should take its magic.

Ouch.

So, using it to store file name breaks the whole thing. It is still
possible to work around this by setting MAGIC to 'env -i file' and
similar thingies, but this is a gotcha.

It ought to be possible to use another name instead...
