As long as LilyPond don't have any downwards compatibility I consider it a bit unfair to nag the guile folks that they don't do it either... I know that guile are used as a plugin by much more applications than lilypond - but strictly speaking lilypond could be used as plugin for many typesetting / musis applications, and hence I find it hard to clearly see the difference.
