Actually not - I was communicating with some users of ABC. ABC is used heavily when writing folk tunes. LilyPond seems to be able much better rendering, as well producing better MIDI output.

...so you may like to try fixing these bugs yourself --

This is what I thought too: it is better if users of ABC are doing it, if possible. For one thing, they will know what output they want.

I believe that abc2ly is written in python, which is an easy programming language to learn.

This comment helps. It might not be so difficult to fix this.
