First of all, I hope you know that LilyPond is a very different
program from the programs you're used to. Basically, it has to be
"fed" with a text file written in a specific language, which is easy
to learn and allows you to write every kind of music you can think of.
To make this process easier, the developers have written a "nice" OSX
application, that provides menus, windows etc. Unfortunately, this
application seems to be broken on OSX 10.5 at the moment; see
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=504
This doesn't mean, however, that you cannot use LilyPond! You can use
it in a less use-friendly way, by installing the PPC version, and then
opening the application called "Terminal" included in your
Applications directory, and following the instructions provided on
http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.11/Documentation/user/lilypond-program/MacOS-X-on-the-command_002dline
(but before that, you need to have a .ly file to provide LilyPond
with; I recommand you to have a look at our tutorial on
http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.11/Documentation/user/lilypond-learning/ )
Cheers,
Valentin
