lily-git was written in tcl, because Johannes started it in tcl and showed  
how easy it was to develop
a simple gui with tcl.

Other than its use for lily-git, tcl is not part of the standard LilyPond  
toolset, so it would be nice to
eliminate it.

There is a Tk interface for python, Tkinter, which would allow rewriting of  
lily-git in python.

If somebody is looking for a LilyPond-related way to get started with  
python, this could be just
such an opportunity.
