To demonstrate what Graham's patch improves, here is file that uses
Pythagorean tuning to play c f g. Current LilyPond outputs a midi file
containing c e g where the e is sharpened to a pythagorean-tuned f (a
perfect 4:3 fourth above c). One would need a midi reader to see this
change.
In order to hear the change, I broke the rules and held the c. (Midi pitch
bend does not support simultaneous notes with different bends in the same
channel; so to get proper output I should have separate channels for each
voice.)
We can hear the excessive pitch bend on the held c, and expect the held
pitch to bend much less after the patch.
