This is a bug in GNU Parted.  It has been fixed in 1.6.2.  I plan to
release 1.4.25 version (for the old stable series) also.  Unfortunately,
there have been some big problems with the GNU servers, and I'm unable
to upload any new versions for the time being.  So, I recommend you try
using the bootdisks, for 1.6.2:

        ftp.gnu.org/gnu/parted/bootdisks
