I don't know. There is a commented-out version with angle brackets,
It's an enclosed lozenge, not just angle brackets.
hopefully Karl will clarify when he's back.
rms didn't want it that way, as far as I can remember. The lozenge
version was disabled many years ago.
If you want the lozenges, perhaps we should make a Texinfo option, along
the lines of kbdinputstyle. keystyle {plain,lozenge} or some such.
Personally I think they're distracting rather than useful.
