I tried with a similar setup and I don't get an error:
dumas@cirn399:~/src/texinfo/tp(master)$ ./texi2any.pl <test.texi
-: warning: document without nodes
dumas@cirn399:~/src/texinfo/tp(master)$ cat test.texi
@bye
But I said something wrong in my previous mail, this code is very
new, so it could be a new issue. I will add more information to the
debugging message, more information can be gathered.
