Hello,

whats the best way to format 'problematic' DVD-RAMs?

I have several discs that make problems when I try to format them.

xorriso -dev /dev/sr0 -list_formats -format by_index_1

index1 is the 'whole-disc', I want to use them like DVD+RWs with
session writing not as blockdevice, the standard way DVD-RAMs are
normally used. It makes no difference if I use the 'whole-disc' or
with spare areas or any other program (dvd+rw-format), fast or
full format. It always fails. Different drives fails too.

xorriso : UPDATE : Formatting ( 7.3% done in 1212 seconds )
libburn : FAILURE : Asynchronous SCSI error : See MMC specs: Sense Key 3 "Medium error", ASC 32 ASCQ 00.
xorriso : UPDATE : Formatting ( 7.3% done in 1213 seconds )
xorriso : FAILURE : libburn indicates failure with formatting.
xorriso : NOTE : Gave up -outdev '/dev/sr0'
xorriso : aborting : -abort_on 'FAILURE' encountered 'FAILURE'

Any chance to use this discs?

Greetings
