Many people don't like Sun's standards. The GNU project has always had it's
own C standards which are documented at:

http://www.gnu.org/prep/standards_toc.html

This also provides reasons why we code the way we do (usually so it's easier
to analyze code with other tools).

You don't *have* to follow the coding standard here. But I would appreciate
it if you do.
