problems installing ddd-3.2.1 on Mandrake 7.1

Hello,
The OS is Mandrake 7.1 and I installed *everything* for a 'developer'
configuration  during the GUI install process (took almost 2GB).

Of the required software for ddd,
I have:

g++ 2.95.2
libstdc++ 2.95.2
LessTif 0.89.9
X11R6
GNU make 3.79
XPM Library 3.4
Athena widgets library Xaw3d

The only things that I *may* not have and that are required are:
Xlib
Xt

I downloaded ddd-3.2.1.tar, untarred it to create a directory
ddd-3.2.1/, moved to this directory and ran './configure' as root. 

I ran sent standard output and errors to the file the_errors.dat from
configure using:

$./configure > the_error.dat 2>1&

It seems I may not have some X libraries. Please help if you know the
answer. Also is there any information on how 'configure' works.
