You're right. It was one of those old cable converter boxes people used
before all the tvs became cable ready.

I looked thru to message archive and found this
"FYI, it's a Microtune 4937DI5 3x7702 module.  Tunes from 50M to 860M..."

I checked their web site and didn't find that specific model number listed.
What looked close was http://www.microtune.com/products/49xx_Series.html

While googleing around I also found an into to sdr type article

I know this
http://www.spectrumsignal.com/Products/_Datasheets/SDR-WDS_dsheet.cfm would
cost several times what my car costs I just had to stop and drool over it.
