What are the hardware options that are required to make gnuradio
work? I'm pretty new to the software radio scene so what is a good
balance between cost and some (minimal) assembly?
I would love to be able to "see" the whole 2-meter or 440 ham
bands at once. Is this possible to do right now on the "cheap."
Eventually it would be great to log activity.
I have a related question... how many radios on the market these
days are slipping closer and closer to "software?" For example, the
little Yaesu VX-5 I own has a huge receive range, with AM, FM, and WFM.
Kenwood has a model that also receives SSB. How much is done in hardware
these days? Is it moving toward firmware more ham and commercial radios
(think encryption options).
