Gnuradio is really cool, but it is not that useful without the USRP
(or some other hardware) To a lot of experimenters and beginners and
students, ~$700 (plus daughter cards) is a lot of money to tinker.
What makes it really neat of course is grc.

As easy to use as grc is, it still is not easy enough to just "jump right in".

What would be cool would be a place on the gnuradio site that has
tutorials with a bunch of prerecorded samples. Here would be a good
example of what I mean:

FM Radio Demodulation (I know there are FM tutorials out there, but
none using grc):
* Including wideband samples of lots of FM signals (Multiple simultaneous ones)
* Step by step screen shots from grc on how to import the file source
all the way to the alsa sink
* How to do multiple stations at a time
* Explanation of all the parameters set inside the blocks (I can
tinker with the variables, but I don't know what they mean.)

Other applications would be neat, but the key here is grc to lower the
barrier to entry. This in turn would make it easier for people to get
interested, just apt-get, download samples, follow the tutorials. This
in turn leads to a larger user base, and of course greater sales of
usrp's :)

I would volunteer to make these tutorials, except I am the demographic
in this use case and I don't have a usrp...  But if someone can
produce samples and some instruction, I can make it even simpler by
turning it into a video tutorial!
