Seeking Advice for GNUstep Distribution

Hello All,
I am working on the Simply GNUstep distribution, which aims to be a user-friendly linux-gnustep distro.

I have now compiled a basic linux-gnu system using gcc-3.0.2 exclusively and have even separated it into different packaged (tarballs) separated by User & Developer criteria. My goal is simplicity, I even compiled the system to use the linux devfs exclusively (which is a great step for a linux distro IMHO)

Now to the point.....

The next major step has drawn near: selecting and compiling the GUI system...

I'd like to survey you all. What is the best route to go for the GUI backend: DGS or X11?

I'm hesitant to go the DGS backend route because it's progress seems to be slower than the X11 backend, Is DGS being actively worked on?

Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Chad Hardin
