I think this thread would have died if there wasn't
any mixed feelings 

I also think that a windows port is good for potential
OS X developers

and I think it'd be neat to use cross compilers and
such to create gnustep binaries for other platforms
so not to lock those developers into those platforms

cygwin should have guile 1.6.0 by now
(though the gnustep tests seem to be based off of 1.4)

if anyone wants I have some patches at home which if
not correct will give a good overview of the changes
in the guile api
