Hi all,

I am writing this to let you know that Adam was right and that the problem was
easy to fix. For some reason the second machine, the one with the segfaults,
had libffi4-dev installed (Debian). It turned out that base linked with this
library (as seen in output from ldd). Once I removed the package with

    apt-get remove libffi4-dev

and re-built, I had a working installation and my programs now run perfectly.

I hope this message is useful to those who might run into the same problem.

Best regards,

Marko
