Indeed, why not... after all, SharpDevelop is GPL'd (which is
very good) and the author seems to have some sympathy for the
DotGNU project (why else would he post on this list? :-)

I don't think that pnet is quite mature enough yet to allow us
to use SharpDevelop without any dependencies on Microsoft's
proprietary stuff, though.  (Maybe it could be made a priority
in pnet to move it quickly in the direction of allowing to build
and run SharpDevelop?)

BTW, is anyone working on a free competitor to VB.NET yet?
