I'm wondering why it is that all you unruly members of this list opposed
Norbert's attempt to bring some moderation to the party?

Now Norbert has now been bullied into backtracking, it seems to me
there's no hope for the rest of us - Pretty please bring back the
moderation!

Mark

I don't support moderation of address@hidden I don't think that
=
it is=20
appropriate now that the largest source of off-topic noise has been
dealt=
=20
with. Please remove the moderation.

Cheers,

Rhys.

I would like to formerly oppose this. A free transfer of information
does not happen by having censorship^Wmoderation. You're going to lose
developers and people will create a fork if this continues. Please
reconsider.

I second both Rhys and Leon ... moderations are bad !

(as the least factor affecting SNR recently , I should
say !)

I third this. I'd be afraid that people wishing to make a contribution
would
be scared off. It's got the dotgnu brand-name associated with it and is
probably the most recognized ML for this project.

Several subscribers have have asked for this list's moderation
to be removed, on grounds of mailing list moderation not being
appropriate.

I have decided to honor this request. There will be no moderation
of postings which have a From: address which is subscribed to the
list.

It remains my carefully considered opinion that it is fully
appropriate to hand-moderate mailing lists during during times
of high flame war risk, such as when someone with a bully type
personality has just been banned.

It remains my view that mailing list moderation is *not* a form a
censorship if it is done
 a) based on a clear list charter, and
 b) by a team of moderators so that there is accountability.

However I am running this list as a steward on behalf of the GNU
project and on behalf of the list's subscribers.

Since the list's subscribers do not support moderation as a means
of flame war prevention, this precaution will not be taken. The
use of the more stealthy methods of flame war prevention, such as
keyword filters, is totally out of the question because (based on
what FSF executive director Bradley Kuhn has told me) it seems to
be a GNU policy that [for GNU mailing lists] "the right way" of
taking flame war prevention measures is to make the list moderated
and announce that it is moderated.

Since the other options have been ruled out, the list is going to
be and remain unmoderated. If that results in flame wars, so be it.
Flame wars are not the end of the world. I will be wearing
my asbestos underwear. :-)

Greetings, Norbert.

Subject: [DotGNU]X11 support on Mac OS/X

Hello,

I downloaded and compiled the latest versions of treecc/pnet/pnetlib and

built them into my /usr/local directory. I tried running the sample
programs and the command-line Hello program runs fine. I then tried
running
XHello.exe and got the following error message:

libXsharpSupport.dylib: could not load dynamic library
(NSObjectFileImageAccess)
Uncaught exception: Xsharp.XCannotConnectException: X/Windows library is
not
present, or could not be
located on the library search path.
        at Xsharp.Display.OpenInternal(String, Application) in
./Display.cs:194
        at Xsharp.Display.Open(String, Application) in ./Display.cs:204
        at Xsharp.Application..ctor(String, String[]) in
./Application.cs:252
        at XHello.Main(String[]) in ./XHello.cs:29

I'm running Mac OS/X 10.2.6 with the Dec 2002 devel tools
I am using the X11 supplied by Apple (public beta 3) as well as the
corresponding X11 SDK

I can run other X11 apps fine from the command line (xeyes, xclock etc).

I don't have any dynamic library called NSObjectFileImageAccess on my
computer.
Is there something that i'm missing?

Thanks for any help,

Oscar
