Well, it _is_ the "system" in "system call": a "system call" clearly
passes control to Linux.
Actually it calls libc, and then libc invokes the kernel.

Linux is not really a program in the usual sense.
It is a program, in the usual sense of the word.
You must have some unusual sense of the word in mind.
