I actually thought so as well... but was unable to figure out what the
reason could be. And I often play with the Python interpreter after
executing files, so having to type "emacs." every so often was quite
annoying.

Yes, I agree. For writing code, the mode is very good. I personally
use the interactive features quite a bit, and they indeed could use
some extra attention.

I am not sure how unambiguous that would be... it will be pretty clear
until the release takes place, but probably not so much afterwards.
And the release is (probably) going to happen sooner or later ;)
