Interesting, but none of them are primarily text editors. When The
Gimp automatically detects the image type from the file contents,
that's less surprising than when Emacs does it, since The Gimp is for
editing images, whereas Emacs is primarily for editing text files.
Your 4 examples show that it does seem to be acceptable for this kind
of automatic image detection to happen. I just don't like it, that's
all. :)
