Ah, I didn't know that. I thought Emacs by default inserted indentation that resembles that of adjacent lines. It would be nice if Emacs could do that, as this should lessen this problem either way. In the meantime, it's annoying when indent-tabs-mode mindlessly changes tabs to spaces and introduces no-change "changes".
