It's not that simple.  Some features that are turned on cannot be
easily turned off afterwards.

Experience shows that you are in disagreement with a large bulk of our
users.  They tend to complain loudly when they bump into some changes
of defaults that they dislike, or find that behavior they were
accustomed to changed too radically.
