Yes, but "well" according to whom? The ones learn better short
words (I know I do), the others long-words-with-lots-of-separators,
and so on...

Not saying one shouldn't try -- on the contrary: one should keep
trying, but I'd expect it to be a slow process, which at the same
time slowly changes direction (as tastes and needs change). So
I think one should proceed slowly: get a rough idea of the
direction to follow, agree on style guides (we do have that)
and tune those style guides (are people following them? If
not: why not?)

I'm very sceptical of taking the screwdriver to the software
before having cleared the above (have we?).
