I don't understand.  Can't they customize it to t?
That will only affect their own use, but any Emacs
users in their org can do that.  What am I missing?

(FWIW, I'm in favor of changing the default to nil,
which is why I started this thread, breaking it off
from your wishlist of default changes.)
