oh yes! I just appear to be using emacs 26 (debian stable), so I won’t be 
able to benefit from that immediately (or until my next recompile of emacs) 
^^

I find sad that it’s still .emacs.d (or, well, .emacs isn’t it?) that will 
be created by default, but well, I imagine that’s configurable per-site in 
/etc
