In this instance, it sounds like the warnings were all correct, with the possible exception that some unescaped instances of 'foo may (although it's not clear to me) have caused some false-positive warnings about instances of `foo' in the same docstring? So the annoyance was justified and disabling the warnings would have been a mistake, yes?
