Success!

Support for the ciphers I needed was added in Paramiko 1.7.5. Looks
like the current version of Fabric comes bundled with 1.7.4. I
upgraded to the latest version of paramiko (1.7.6) and everything
works now.

Thanks for help. It pushed me in the right direction.
