I mentioned this on the RubyML, but I'll mention it here 
in case anyone is interested.

I've created a little tool called RubyRED (for "remote
editor") which is really just a wrapper around FTP and
the editor of your choice.

I "abstracted away" all the user interface stuff so that
alternate user interfaces can be put in modules.

It might be nice if someone made a FOX interface 
(someone who knows FOX better than I do).

And more on topic for this group, when we create "the
ideal Ruby GUI" it might be nice to create an interface
using that toolkit as well...

My theory is that a nice simple app is a good showcase
for different GUIs (both code and look/feel).
