hints: do not load the lt_serial, lt_modem on startup...comment them out
in /etc/modules & modules.conf files. if you do, you load them, you will
need to reboot to get ir going again (conflict or something)...also,
comment out the sound module helped at first also here. but the sound
module no long conflicts on my 8100.

i have a nokia 8290 with a dell inspiron 8100...think i'm using a cvs
(recent) version of gnokii which now recognizes the 8290.
