6310i Network access

Hi

I have a second hand 6310i with me. There is a problem with Network
selection. The phone doesnt detect the network of the service provider even
though other phones are detecting.

Ony if the signal is substantially strong, i am able to access the GPRS and
even SMS service. I stay in a hilly terrain. The local service man tells
some ICs are busted.

Any software utility by which I can check for the ICs or any other hardware
problems?

Does gnokii have such a facility? I use bluetooth dongle to connect to
computer.
