Biting?  It seems to me that Mr. Suffield's mail had no purpose but to 
antagonize its recipients.  It didn't do anything constructive at all.

If Mr. Suffield had "How to Ask Smart Questions" in mind when writing his 
useless mail, perhaps he should have saved the "user error" remark and 
instead just provided a url to that document.

That would have at least taught the user a lesson, and given the mail some 
value to its recipients.
