But would someone able to use a text-mode non-colored browser be
confused by the presence of a prompt?

For single commands, it's OK, but how do you distinguish commands and
output then?
$ tla foo bar
foobar
boz
$ ...
seems very clear, while
tla foo bar
foobar
boz
...
is more than messy ...
