Pacemaker, CrabFest

 Busy week coming up at NYLUG!

 Tuesday, August 17, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM 
 The NYLUG Hacking Society Chapter/Coding Workshop meets at the NY Public 
 Library, Hudson Park Branch.

 This group's interests include, but are not limited to, Python, 
 Smalltalk (Pharo), and C++. All levels of coding experience from totally 
 new to experienced welcome!

 We meet every other Tuesday in the West Village. Bring something to 
 discuss! There's a blackboard, chalk, and wireless internet access. 
 Notebook computers are helpful but not required.

 The NYLUG Monthly General Meeting presents Adam Gandleman on DRBD & 

 This talk will first provide an introduction to DRBD: what it does, how 
 it works, and some live demonstrations of replication-in-action. Basic 
 HA concepts will be covered as well as an overview of Pacemaker and the 
 Linux HA cluster stack as it relates to DRBD. To give a sense of its 
 flexibility, common and interesting use cases will be presented ranging 
 from simple, locally deployed HA clusters to geographically dispersed, 
 cross-site disaster recovery installations. Finally, attendees will see 
 how the current Open Cluster Framework (OCF) standards provide users 
 with a generic and easy way of integrating their own custom applications 
 into a highly-available environment using freely available open-source

 The first-ever NYLUG CrabFest will take place at "Fish" in the West 
 Village, and you're invited!

 Instead of our typical spontaneous social event, "the NYLUG WingFest", 
 are celebrating the summer, and indulging in a time-honored east-coast 
 tradition of smashing open crabs while imbibing fermented beverages.

 The bar and restaurant "Fish" in the West Village offers $19 
 All-you-can-eat steamed blue crabs from noon to 4pm.
