 ------------------------------------------
The NYLUG Hacking Society Chapter/Coding Workshop meets at the NY Public
 Library, Hudson Park Branch.

This group's interests include, but are not limited to, Python,
Smalltalk (Pharo), and C++. All levels of coding experience from totally
 new to experienced welcome!

We meet every other Tuesday in the West Village. Bring something to
discuss! There's a blackboard, chalk, and wireless internet access.
Notebook computers are helpful but not required.

 Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from 6:30-8:00 PM
 --------------------------------------------
The NYLUG Monthly General Meeting presents Adam Gandleman on DRBD &
 Pacemaker.

This talk will first provide an introduction to DRBD: what it does, how
it works, and some live demonstrations of replication-in-action. Basic
HA concepts will be covered as well as an overview of Pacemaker and the
Linux HA cluster stack as it relates to DRBD. To give a sense of its
flexibility, common and interesting use cases will be presented ranging
from simple, locally deployed HA clusters to geographically dispersed,
cross-site disaster recovery installations. Finally, attendees will see
how the current Open Cluster Framework (OCF) standards provide users
with a generic and easy way of integrating their own custom applications
into a highly-available environment using freely available open-source
 software.

Sunday, August 22, 2010 from Noon to 4PM

The first-ever NYLUG CrabFest will take place at "Fish" in the West
 Village, and you're invited!

Instead of our typical spontaneous social event, "the NYLUG WingFest",
are celebrating the summer, and indulging in a time-honored east-coast
tradition of smashing open crabs while imbibing fermented beverages.

The bar and restaurant "Fish" in the West Village offers $19
All-you-can-eat steamed blue crabs from noon to 4pm.
