How about something like owl_live_somewhere(int goal_region[BOARDMAX])?
This could then try to make shape, find double threats to connect / live,
etc. It could be based on pattern reading like the rest of the owl code,
and make use of the owl defense patterns as well as a new set of invasion
patterns. It would probably need to be much more careful than the current
owl code is about dragons getting cut apart, though.
