I am not sure what it is that you want to do.

If they are filed within one and the same encounter they are
siblings in that they are all linked to the same encounter,
of course. It doesn't matter one whit which episode they
belong to.

The progress notes content itself is independant of each
other, naturally.

Data in GNUmed links to two grouping principles:

episode: this is the semantic grouping
encounter: this is the chronological grouping

Those two are independant of each other.

That's why you can see the same episode in different
encounters as well as the same encounter under different
episodes.

It is like if you are sorting a grocery store by

a) shape
b) type of thing

Where do you put apples ?
        Under sphere-like objects ?
        Under fruit ?

They are both so they need to be put under both. Which is
not possible with apples but is possible with data.

So you will see the same apple twice - once under fruit and
once under spheres.

Now imagine hierarchial orderings:

fruit
   sphere-like
   cube-like

sphere-likes
   apples
   kiwis

Where do you think the apple will show up ? Of course, it
shows up several times. And it is still the same apple.

This is called orthogonal criteria.
