Joe, please re-generate and report the bug as follows:
- in the login screen (where you input user/pw any-doc/any-doc)
ensure that the option "Debug mode" is "checked"
- when the unhandled exception handler appears, accept the option to
submit a bug report. In the first window there are fields:
Comment: <please orient us... e.g. "right after login" or "after
doing...">
Sender: <your email address>
... click the button Send report
... in the next dialog "Enter a short note on what you were about to
do..." you have another chance to put in details
... in the next dialog "Sending bug report" please send to gnumed-
address@hidden
... in the next dialog *checkbox* to include the log file in the bug
report
--> this was unchecked by default in case this was a production system
--> this is your responsibility to not include if there would be
confidential patient information

This looks mighty like there is some screwup with what gets run.
A shot in the dark: you can NOT use gm-dbo to connect with the
gnumed client, you need to use
any-doc (or later a user you created for yourself with GNUmed).
I recall you had been saying you used gm-dbo to connect.
I assume if you use any-doc w pwd any-doc it will work.
Please someone also file a bug report on this.

Sebastian suggested I try the v9 database with the 0.3.2 client.
After completely removing the database and bootstrapping it again,
I tried to start the client from the terminal I get the following.
My setup is as follows:
Ubuntu 8.04
Python 2.5.2
PostgreSQL 8.3
python-wxgtk2.8
gnumed-client 0.3.2
gnumed database v9
I know I have posted system setup before. If I need to post
differently or add more information just let me know. This is the
first time I have ever tried to work with programmers to improve or
help with software. I do know that I want gnumed to work for me and
will do my part to help in whatever capacity I am able.
Thanks again for taking the time to look at my issues, I appreciate
it.
This is what I get when I try to start the client ...
address@hidden:~/GNUmed-0.3.2/client$ ./gm-from-cvs.sh
GNUmed startup: Running from local source tree.
